Stargazing Break
Dark Skies of Exmoor Stargazing Break- 5th to 7th February 2027
Join us at Yarn Market Hotel for a special two-night Stargazing Break in the heart of Exmoor, one of the best places in the country to enjoy dark skies and star-filled evenings. This relaxing and informative break includes dinner, bed and breakfast, all meals, and a programme of talks, with numbers limited to help create a more personal experience.
The weekend also includes a visit to the Norman Lockyer Observatory, with hotel transport provided for the excursion. Guests will enjoy expert insight from speaker Terry Evans, Chairman of the Crewkerne & District Astronomical Society, who will share his local knowledge of Exmoor’s stargazing sites and be on hand throughout the break to answer questions.
The provisional itinerary begins on Friday with arrival from 3.00pm, followed by a welcome meeting, a short talk, and dinner. After dinner, guests will have the chance to head out for an evening of stargazing before returning to the hotel for a nightcap or hot drink.
On Saturday, after breakfast and lunch at the hotel, the group will travel to Sidmouth for a visit to the Norman Lockyer Observatory, with time for a short tour of the promenade before the observatory visit.
On Sunday morning there will be a final short talk before the break concludes with a traditional Sunday roast lunch. Should weather conditions not allow for star viewing, talks will be provided at the hotel instead.
The inclusive price for the break is £250 per person for a double, twin or single room.
Guests aged 20 or under may stay at a discounted rate when sharing a room. Extra nights are available at the reduced rate of £65 per person, bed and breakfast, with dinner available separately.
