Heritage Craft Escape
Monday 19th to Friday 23rd October 2026
4 nights at Yarn Market Hotel, Dunster, Exmoor
Step into a relaxing and creative autumn break on Exmoor with our Heritage Craft Escape at Yarn Market Hotel.
This special four-night stay is designed for guests who would like to enjoy traditional crafts in a welcoming and inspiring setting, guided by experienced tutors and surrounded by the charm of Dunster.

Arriving on Monday 19th October 2026, guests will begin the break with a welcome meeting followed by dinner.
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, you will take part in hands-on craft sessions for a minimum of four hours each day, with time for other activities or excursions as part of the experience. There will also be optional tutor guidance after dinner each evening, and the break will conclude with a celebration of everyone’s achievements on the final evening.

During this break, you will have the chance to explore three beautiful heritage crafts:

Quilling with Philippa Reid

Discover the fascinating history of quilling and explore its creative potential. You will begin with simple coiling and looping techniques before moving on to some of the lesser-known methods found in antique quilling. Using paper strips, glue and your own hands, you will create a framed piece to take home.

Bookbinding with Jane Hardstaff

Create your own traditional hardback notebook using a selection of beautiful decorative papers. Along the way, you will learn core bookbinding techniques that you can continue using at home, while also exploring different types of handmade books in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Passementerie with Pam Martin

Learn a range of basic passementerie skills including button, tassel and rosette making. These traditional decorative techniques are enjoyable to learn and can also be used alongside many other crafts in the future.
