We have set up a Walking Group as we have so many regular visitors who make great friends with other guests during their visit and would like the opportunity to renew old acquaintances.
As part of the membership it is planned to offer value breaks from the hotel on a quarterly basis. Whatever your walking abilities, we hope to extend a warm welcome, good food and a few nights in glorious Exmoor. Click on the link above to see more.

This area has some of the best walking country you could wish for. We have the most delightful Exmoor National Park, one of the smaller National Parks with a wonderful variety of scenery. It encompasses the start of the longest National Trail, the
South West Coast Path, which starts three miles from the hotel.

Then there is the new Coleridge Way. This offers a 36 mile walk which can be completed in 4 or 5 days. We offer pre-booked minibus transport and route directions to help you walk linear walks each day to complete this scenic trail from Nether Stowey to Porlock. The MacMillan Way West also passes nearby, coming from the Quantock Hills and passing over Exmoor on its way to Barnstaple.

Near to the hotel is one of the Exmoor National Park Visitor Centres, where a wide range of walks leaflets can be bought. These will take you on some excellent walks in the surrounding area.

Our hotel has drying facilities for wet clothes and boots, and those coming with their dogs are most welcome.

Special rates are available for walking groups and our minibus can be pre-booked to take your group to and from your chosen walks. We have a selection of guides who can take your group on walks with that added benefit of not needing to worry about navigation or finding the best walks. You will also know more about the countryside through which you are passing. Please ask for a quote if you would like to bring a group of walkers.

During early May each year there is the North Devon and Exmoor Walking Festival. The hotel keenly supports this festival, which provides a wide range of guided walks. We can recommend this as a wonderful way of discovering the excellent walks in this area.

Because we are so close to the sea and the Gulf Stream, this area is ideal walking country all year round. Winter can be exhilarating, with wide open views which are not available when the trees are clothed with their leaves. Come and see snowdrop valley. The area is peaceful, the paths welcoming and a warm hotel in the evenings make the perfect walking break. We look forward to welcoming you.
