Life at the Castle

Itinerary

Wednesday

You are welcome to check into the Yarn Market Hotel from midday onwards.

Lunch will be served at 1.30pm during which you will be introduced to the main people from the National Trust and the Hotel who will be looking after you during your stay.

2.30pm A guided walk around the Village focusing on the village history and its links with the Castle.

7.00pm An illustrated talk about the Castle and its developments through the centuries.

7.45pm Dinner in the Restaurant with members of the Dunster Castle team.

Thursday

After Breakfast make your way up to the Castle for a 10.00am start. There will be a courtesy vehicle available from the Hotel if you require transport.

You will be split into two groups one will have a guided tour of the principal rooms of the house while the other has an attic and basement tour to see the hidden side of the Castle and discover how the Victorians ran the house.

12.30pm A buffet Lunch will be served in the main hall of the Castle.

Groups swap over to continue to continue the tour of the Castle and the Attics and Basements

7.00pm An illustrated talk on the Care & Conservation of the Castle artifacts

7.45pm Dinner in the Restaurant with the Dunster Castle team.

Friday

10.00am There will be an illustrated talk on the Gardens and their developments followed by a tour around the Gardens with the Head Gardener.

1.00pm “Farewell Meal” at the Yarn Market Hotel (courtesy vehicle available).

If you would like to extend your stay for an extra night please book it with us and this will give you the opportunity to visit the Dunster Water Mill on Saturday morning. You are then invited to break your homeward journey with a complimentary visit to Coleridge Cottage at Nether Stowey.
